Succinctly Yours - Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Ring in the New Year

Word of the week: outwit

Exaggeration
I used to trudge 5 miles through the snow delivering papers and on New Year's Day I played a fanfare.

And I liked it.

Yeah, right, Grandpa.

  (140)- Pat

Dissimulation
Trying to outwit the negativity of bad news, Jack let the colorful New Year's Eve confetti sift from his folded newspapers onto the snow.
(137) - Pat

Celebration
Extra, extra, read all about it;
Good news, bad news, you can't doubt it;
Crossword writers you might outwit;
Happy New Year, I will shout it!
(139) - Pat

Aggravation
Little Boy Blue blew his horn but the sheep didn't come; they were hiding in the snow.
(86) - Jerry

Grandma's Goulash is hosting a microfiction meme called "Succinctly Yours," where you can write either a 140-character or 140-word micro-story based on the photo she posts and/or the word of the day, so you have plenty of room to be creative! Join the fun at Grandma's Goulash.

Nice ones, Pat and Jerry.
Yes, Grandpa, up hill and down hill, five miles, in the snow!!
Lost his sheep, huh, Jerry. He is a naughty boy.

You both are so clever, but I feel bad for the sheep if they are hiding in the snow. Grandpa's do tell some tales, don't they? And they get better and better. lol

Our weather is recording at 12 F today and it has snowed all day!!
