A day in Mazatlan

December 20, 2009, near the end of the cruise, our ship docked at Mazatlan. The temperature was in the 80s with high humidity, but it was still a great day for doing some sightseeing, so we found a tour guide who gave us and two other couples a great deal on a tour of the city in his van.
Up on a hill on the outskirts of the city center we had a great view of the city, the ship and the bay.

Driving through the city streets we saw lots of beautiful flowers, including these in pots atop a concrete awning.
A Best Western hotel along the ritzy bay view drive... and a colorful mosaic Mazatlan sign along the way..
A young diver shows off his skill...
...for some tips from us onlookers.
This is the big Catholic church in central downtown Mazatlan.
Another side of the church
The inside of the church building was gorgeous.
Christmas decorations were everywhere. I think Santa should have been wearing red and white shorts and t-shirt, though, and flip flops, too.
A residential street...Most of the nicer homes are protected by decorative walls and fences.
I love these colorful buildings near the port; not that I would want my house painted this color, but it works in Mexico.
I played around with PhotoShop and gave it the watercolor, cutout and paint daubs effect. ;)
...and here it is with just the watercolor effect.

Jerry and me by the bay. We had so much fun together being tourists and seeing so many new sights.

You, too, can see new sights at My World Tuesday.
