Adventurers from afar have arrived! For Skywatch post, look below this post.

It was 3:50 this morning, pitch dark outside. I heard a car door close. My heart started pounding... Could it be that my son Tim and dil Jolene were actually here at our house?! The last time I saw them in person was at their wedding over two years ago. It's been 2 years 2 months 11 days, not that I'm counting or anything. Can you imagine not seeing your child, even if it's your adult child for over two years?! I know lots of people have experienced that, and now I too know what it feels like.
They left southern California last night at 7:30 PM and drove for over 8 hours, all through the night, to get here. We visited for 15 minutes or so, and then all of us tried to get some more sleep...I couldn't, of course...I was kind of emotional and teary so here I am blogging about it. Oh, btw, in case you haven't been a regular reader of my blog, Tim and Jolene have been Peace Corps Volunteers in Niger since July 2007.

We have talked to them frequently on the phone, but being in their presence is so much better!

Yes I can imagine quite well how it feels not to see your child for two years. I have a daughter in Australia, who I see once a year, but in 2001 we couldn't meet because my Dutch daughter was seriously ill and I had to take care of her son. So it was not until 2002 that I saw my Australian daughter and her family again. Last year August we all went to Australia and this year she was to come here, but she postponed the trip until May next year.
Your photos are lovely! Thanks for sharing.

Wil: Oh, I'm sorry that you can't see your Australian daughter this year. The reunion will be so sweet next year.

Must be something to go that long and then be reunited. I can't imagine. I hope I never have to. I applaud these young people. And you.
