Baby and toddler fun

On Tuesday we went to Yountville, near Napa, for Jerry's 59th Army Band concert. I got to take care of Samuel Hobbs, age 6 weeks, during the rehearsal and the concert because his parents, Curt (on bassoon) and Julie (on flute) were performing in the concert. Julie was the one who marched in the 4th of July parade and played in the concert when she was 8 months pregnant. I used Nathan's and Ben's (and Johanna's and Cori's) swaddling and close holding techniques as well as walking around the room singing to him, and it calmed him right down. He seemed to especially like "You Are My Sunshine," "Hush Little Baby" and "Lullabye and Goodnight." I even threw in "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" as an encore. He didn't seem to mind hearing a Christmas carol in September.
That was a warm-up for spending time with our grandson Noah in Santa Rosa on Wednesday. We watched a "Baby Einstein" DVD on baby sign language and Noah showed us the sign for airplane, more and ball.

Noah is doing an unknown sign, or maybe snapping his fingers.

I'm doing the sign for more.I'm doing the sign for ball.

It was a very enjoyable day, having lunch with Ben and Jo and getting to play with our grandson. This post just has to be in my Makes me happy list! Thanks for the fun and food, Ben and Jo!
